Let’s see first what the common wisdom says:

And now let’s see what the data says. All the charts are from here: https://io.trudov.com/producthunt-trends/weekly-cycle (updated daily).
Question #1: which day gives better chances to be featured?
Share of featured launches per day for the last 3 years
This chart seems to confirm the consensus: from Tuesday to Thursday we see the highest share. But it describes a reality that no longer exists.
At the end of 2025 the number of launches exploded and the share of featured launches dropped. In 2023 every third launch was featured; any decent product had good chances. Now there are more products and the share of featured dropped to 3-4% (see my previous post). Being featured is a tougher boss now.
To really understand what’s going on now we need to exclude stale data.
Share of featured launches per day for the last 6 months
Now the picture changes completely. Tuesday and Wednesday have the lowest share of featured launches among workdays. It is not hard to guess why.
Median number of launches per weekday for the last 6 months
First, featured launches:
As you can see the lower share of featured launches on Tuesday can’t be explained by lower activity of the editorial team. The absolute number of featured launches on Tuesday is the highest among all days. Now take a look at the number of all launches:
On Tuesday we see the highest competition among all days. 43% more launches than on Thursday (30% fewer from Thursday’s side) with a comparable number of featured launches.
Conclusion
Judging by the share of featured launches1, the best chances of getting featured are on Thursday and Friday and the worst on the weekend and Tuesday.
Notice the contradiction with the common narrative: Tuesday is regarded as the best day to launch. Not anymore, at least not for passing the first boss.
Question #2: which day gives featured launches more attention?
This part is trickier. The Product Hunt API doesn’t expose information about views, clicks, traffic sources. So we are forced to use upvotes as a proxy for attention the launches get.
Median upvotes across weekdays for the last 6 months
First, take a look at #1 and #5 featured launches:
Tuesday holds the highest number of upvotes for the best product of the day. But when we check how many upvotes remain for the fifth place, it becomes apparent that Tuesday is behind Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Now, average and lowest featured launches:
Same picture: Tuesday is far from the best. Weekend appears to dominate the chart, but it is misleading. With 9 featured launches on a median Sunday, the average featured launch is the #5. On Thursday it is the #14.
Conclusion
Judging by these stats2, Tuesday may be the best day for launching if you are certain you will make it to the very top. If you are going to be in the top 5, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are better.
Question #3: what does a typical week look like on Product Hunt?
All the charts above are built on the aggregated data: take all weeks, separate Monday values, get the median, repeat. Now let’s see what we get if we compare each weekday with its own week. It should give us a more precise picture because the number of launches is rising steadily.
Monday: fewer than average launches, higher chance to be featured, higher upvotes across all segments.
Tuesday: the highest number of all launches and featured launches, the worst chances to be featured among workdays, the highest number of upvotes for the top launches, average featured launch has the lowest number of upvotes.
Wednesday: very similar to Tuesday, but all the patterns are less distinct.
Thursday: only slightly higher than average number of all launches, highest chance of being featured, modest amount of upvotes across the board.
Friday: looks like Monday on the share of featured launches but it’s the only day below average in every upvote segment.
Saturday: few launches, low share of featured, low number of upvotes for top launches, average for a median launch.
Sunday: lowest number of launches, low share of featured launches, low upvotes for top launches, inflated number of upvotes for an average launch.
So, when to launch?
There is no one best day for all purposes.
All-rounder: Monday.
If you are not certain you will be featured: Thursday.
If you are confident you’ll make it to top-1: (e.g. you are OpenAI or Anthropic): still Tuesday.
Of course, these are only medians, reference points. Your product and the audience you bring matter more.
A personal note
Recently I finally settled on a name for my blog:
Nobody Checked
Founders and marketers often decide on conventional wisdom and old myths. Nobody has enough time to verify everything. I explore Internet trends and the startup industry and bring data to check what works and how to make better calls in this ever-changing mess.
This post is a textbook example. There is a simple claim repeated in dozens of guides: Tuesday is one of the best! People act on it, Tuesday becomes crowded, nobody checked, best practice becomes an obsolete myth.
The data is not always this clear. But it is always worth picking up a stick and poking at common wisdom a little.
Strictly speaking, we can’t just assume that the number of all launches is the only reason explaining the distribution of the featured launches. There might be other factors. But for practice, obviously, we want to launch when the editorial team is active and there are as few competing launches as possible.
Again, it is important to understand that there might be alternative explanations. Tuesday might show the best results for #1 just because top products launch on Tuesday and bring their external audience to Product Hunt. On the other hand, it fits with the highest level of competition on this day.
