Today was my first workday after a short vacation. I had rested very well, so today I felt full of energy and ready for anything. Usually, after a vacation, I immediately try to accomplish something big, for example: finishing an online course, starting a new project, developing a new useful routine, or even mustering the courage to tidy up my desk drawers!
It is easy to do complicated, impactful things when your battery is 100% charged. I have brought a lot of wonderful things into my life with these after-vacation efforts.
But today, I had to dive into postponed meetings, get done with some chores, and do other pretty ordinary stuff. At first, I thought of it as a missed opportunity.
However, I soon realized this day gave me another opportunity. The fact that I navigated through all the small challenges of the day with ease and humor matters! It reminded me – on a deep emotional level – that I could work with real pleasure. I feel that this reminder will help me to be more relaxed and, at the same time, more effective every day, not only after first-class rest.
