I gave a public speech and noticed that I did not worry at all. This is not very unusual for me, as I have some experience speaking to audiences. However, sometimes I worry, and sometimes I do not.
So, I started wondering what the deciding factor is. The answer came quite quickly.
I do not worry when there is a combination of two factors.
Factor 1: I speak about something important, about a topic that truly concerns my audience.
Factor 2: I strongly believe in each point I am going to convey.
If I have any worries, it means that at least one of these factors is absent.
Thereby, worrying before speaking is not a problem itself. It is a strong and constructive indicator that I should check the importance of the topic or verify the points.
