Humanity’s main advantage over AI

I tried Google’s SGE (AI functions in search).

Not impressed: I only got shallow responses. I doubt they could be useful for any mildly complicated topic. (That’s why SEO will live and thrive, by the way).

Working with AI tools helped me understand the fundamental difference between looking smart and being smart.

Smart-looking decisions and speeches are all about words. They sound right and logical. But when you try to build a picture of reality based on them, you can’t. They’re not rooted in reality.

Ideas that are actually smart are drawn from reality and living experience.

Why is it so difficult to distinguish real things from fake? Because the process of building a picture of reality from someone’s words is tiring and requires conscious effort. We rarely do it.

Alas, we should: this ability is humanity’s advantage over AI. The more you rely on comparing words with experience and evidence, the less chance AI has of replacing you.
